Vital Distribution Solutions (Pty) Ltd (Vital) was established in 1999 and is a reputable warehousing and transport logistics service provider, operating within the transport sector in Southern Africa. Our vision is to deliver cost effective and reliable services to our clients so that they can focus on their core businesses. Vital aims to be one of the top five distribution and warehousing companies operating in Southern Africa. Experienced Management:

The Vital management team has in excess of 40 years’ experience in the industry, and prides itself on being able to develop and deliver innovative and cost effective solutions.

With most of our senior management having been with Vital from its establishment in 1999, and having extensive industry experience before joining Vital, we have assembled a team of competent and dedicated professionals who are able to deliver our client’s needs.

Our Associate Companies

In addition to warehousing and transport services, Vital is in a position to offer Fleet Services and Solutions, as well as Staffing Solutions through its associate companies Vital Fleet (Pty) Ltd and Staffing Logistics (Pty) Ltd.

Vital Fleet (Pty) Ltd was established in 2001 and aims to provide cost efficient and reliable trucking services to its clients. Vital Fleet has in excess of 400 vehicles in its fleet and as such is able to provide tailor-made packages to its clients. Vital Fleet service offerings include:

  • Fleet Rental Services (FML)
  • Short Term Rental
  • Line-haul
  • Cross-border Line-haul

Staffing Logistics (Pty) Ltd was established in 1998 and aims to ensure optimum profitability to its clients through personalized staffing solutions, giving their clients peace of mind in the knowledge that their temporary employment services, HR solutions and training needs are taken care of. Staffing Logistics service offerings include:

  • Temporary and semi-permanent staff (both blue and white collar)
  • Payroll Management
  • HR and IR Management
  • Permanent Staff Placement
  • Accredited Training – TETA

Vital Fleet in conjunction with Staffing Logistics offers an all-inclusive all-encompassing service that can include everything from goods in transit insurance to experienced and qualified drivers or just a vehicle depending on the specific need and requirement.

Vital is supported in its daily operations by its associate companies. The synergies derived from the resulting integrated services allow Vital to offer integrated solutions on a competitive basis.


Vital Facilities and Portfolio

Vital operates across 5 facilities, including several large distribution centres (including transport), with a combined square metering of approximately 40 000m².

Vital Geographic Footprint

The Company currently manages and operates from several warehouses and depots situated in:

  • South Africa ( various metropolitan sites  at a national level)
  • Namibia (Windhoek)
  • Botswana (Gaborone)

In order to support these operations, Vital also operates many of the related line haul routes.

In addition, Vital is providing secondary distribution and other services into Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and is in the process of establishing its own warehouse facilities in these countries.


Technology – Transport Management System

Vital uses several levels of technology within its core business. These include Transolv, Assetman and Mosaic. These systems are used throughout daily activities including transport scheduling and routing, real-time tracking of shipment information, event management, interfacing with suppliers, proof of delivery, freight claim management and management reporting.

In addition to the above mentioned, Vital has recently implemented a world class ERP system called IFS. IFS applications contain several cross-functional tools and components including business performance management, business reporting, document management and business modelling.

On an ownership level, Vital has partnered with Zikuliseni Rhafu Development Trust (a broad based community trust) and African Revival, which is led by Dr Zolile Maqetuka making up 25% of the company shareholding.

Vital has developed a pro-active, preferential procurement policy and set procurement guidelines that will contribute towards overall economic growth and transformation of the country, by ensuring the constructive participation by South African black people at all levels of business in the South African economy.

The company is committed to establishing relationships with their suppliers that will contribute to the commercial, strategic and empowerment objectives of both the company and its suppliers.
